Bibi Bakare-Yusuf is co-founder and publishing director of Cassava Republic Press. She has worked as a research and gender consultant as well as in academia and has a Ph.D in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Warwick. Her area of research interests are diasporicity and embodiment, memory and sexuality, and phenomenology of Black feminist existence. As well as being widely published, Bibi is also a Yale World Fellow, a Desmond Tutu Fellow and a Frankfurt Book Fair Fellow.

Carole Boyce Davies is Chair and Professor of African Diaspora Literatures at Howard University and Professor Emerita of Africana Studies and Literatures in English at Cornell University.

Janell Hobson is a Professor of women's, gender and sexuality studies at the University at Albany, State University of New York, USA.

Angelique V. Nixon is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute for Gender and Development Studies, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago.

Christen A. Smith is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and African and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, USA.
