Dr. Randal Henry, an expert on public health issues in LA's historically Pan-African/Black communities, is the Founding CEO of Community Intelligence, an afro-centric research and health policy consulting firm; and, the Executive Director of the Center for Healthy Neighborhoods, a non-profit working to improve health and wellbeing in under-resourced communities.Over the course of his career, Dr. Henry encountered many people who were unaware of the contributions of African Americans to California history; the role of Afro-Latino's in the founding of Los Angeles; or, who knew nothing about African Americans from South LA except what they saw on TV or read in the newspaper. Born in South LA was written out of Dr. Henry's desire to help readers gain a deeper understanding of the genius and the potential of the people of South Los Angeles.Dr. Henry was born in South LA, earned his doctorate and master of public health from University of California Los Angeles and his BA in Political Science from Cal Poly Pomona.
