A captivating ode to the constant work of becoming-and understanding-oneself. — PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

PANSY is a non-linear, episodic memoir that combines poetry, cultural criticism, and essays. It follows transmasc, southern writer Jasper as they fumble through an awkward Memphis upbringing in the 90s and early aughts, an insufferable Nashville PWI, and a fierce NYC queer awakening, all with a poignant throughline on Black exceptionalism, focused on Jasper's wildly agonizing first publishing experience with novel, JUNIPER LEAVES.

Jasper "Jaz" Joyner (they/them) is a Black trans author, humorist, poet and managing editor at Focus Magazine. They're also a proud mentor at The Sam & Devorah Foundation for Trans Youth. Their chapbook A Flamboyance with Bottlecap Press and indie YA fantasy novel Juniper Leaves are our now. Jasper lives in Memphis, TN with their partner Joi, cat, Isobel, and dog Mojo.
