From Chicago’s South Side, music artist Shawnee Dez intently engages her audience, encouraging energy exchanges first and foremost. Dez is concerned with ancestral knowledge and performance as an opportunity to channel and communicate with the past and future. In her debut album MOODY UMBRA (2023), Dez explores their music range, playing with heavy use of harmonic layering, a fusion of live instrumentation and digital production, topped off with her dynamic multi-ranged alto melodic voice, creating the perfect dreamscape.

Honing her craft alongside luminaries, Shawnee Dez has collaborated with artists such as Eddie Burns, Nico Segal, and Femdot. Her journey also includes performances as the opening act for acclaimed figures like Chance the Rapper, Teedra Moses, Olivia Dean, and others. In the company of musical titans from Chicago, Shawnee's artistry continues to evolve, leaving an indelible mark on the tapestry of contemporary sound.
